Travel Bucket List

While planning and looking forward to my upcoming trip to New Zealand in December, the travel bug bit me yet again! I’ve crossed off a few things from my bucket list: watching a game in the Real Madrid stadium, drinking wine in front of the Eiffel Tower, and visiting Westminster Abbey in London. Crossing these things off my list makes me contemplate what I want my next trip to be. The summer of 2016 looks awfully empty.

This inspired me to seriously consider which locations were on my “travel bucket list.” I have so much difficulty with lists like this… How can one narrow down a bucket list to only ten things? Although it was impossible to order them from highest to lowest, I did come up with my Top 10 Bucket List Travel Locations! Check them out below.

  1. Indochina
I know this is a big group of countries to consider for one trip. Ideally, I would like to do multiple trips. What interest me most are Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. I love the idea of motorbiking across Vietnam and Cambodia and then having a luxurious, yoga-filled stay in Thailand!
  2. The Holy Land
As a Christian, this is something I desperately want to experience! I can’t even begin to imagine the feeling of walking where Jesus walked.
  3. India
This has been one of my most sought after locations for a while. I know that it’s going to be something that I want to take on once I have a little more travel experience because I want to get a good feeling for local culture and might take this on as a solo trip! Everything about India fascinates me. I love the colors, the culture, the food (although it’s oftentimes to spicy for my Anglo-Saxon palette), and the festivals!
  4. Chile, Peru, and Brazil
The W Trail in Torres Del Paine in Chilean Patagonia and Manchu Picchu in the Cusco region of Peru are a hikers dream
  5. Alberta and British Columbia, Canada
I would love to go to Whistler in the winter and do some serious snow-sporting. Banff National Park also looks absolutely beautiful, with crystal clear lakes. With California as my home base, it should be a pretty easy trip to make happen!
  6. Greek Islands
There are so many obvious reasons for wanting to go to Greece. Besides the amazing culture and beauitful scenery, it’s consistently voted as one of the most romantic locations in the world. While this would be on the top of my list, I’m saving this for a very special trip: my honeymoon! [I should probably get engaged first though…]
  7. Surf Camp in Costa Rica
Learning how to surf (or at least standing up) is on my general bucket list, but learning how to surf in Costa Rica, which is supposedly the best place in the world? That’s what makes a real bucket list!
  8. Czech Republic, Austria, and Croatia
Prague, Salzburg (for The Sound of Music filming locations of course), and Dubrovnik are three of my top travel destinations. For my next trip however, I want to go somewhere other than Europe.
  9. Scandinavia
Stockholm has quickly climbed the ranks of my list to become one of my most researched travel destinations. This is yet another European location but the nature (and reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and the uniqueness of the landscapes draw me in! Again, this will have to wait a few years.
  10. Tanzania, Malawi, and Madagascar
This list wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the east coast of Africa. These countries looks like absolute paradise, complete with local culture and beautiful scenery. I’ll be honest here, I think I want to climb Kilimanjaro, but that’s a very ambitious feat! Malawi is absolutely beautiful and has so much nature to offer.

Hey Jes! I REALLY want to get up to Whistler! We have tentative plans to get up there for New Years, but we’ll see. Also Banff National Park (even though it’s in Alberta) would be a dream come true. What’s on your travel bucket list??

      Thanks for stopping by!
